Tenfold Privacy Policy

Effective November 1, 2026

Tenfold is an AI tutor for iPhone made by Ilia Breitburg. It has no accounts, and we run no servers for it. We don't collect your data, and the app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking.

What you create stays on your device, except for the data sent to the services listed below, which you choose to use.

What stays on your device

  • Your courses, including goals, notes, curricula, plans and the tutor's scratchpad
  • Your lesson sessions, including transcripts and activity logs
  • Your settings
  • Your Serper key, GitHub token and server API key, which are kept in the iOS Keychain

Your device's own backups, such as iCloud Backup, may include this data, under Apple's terms.

Microphone and speech

During a lesson, Tenfold listens through your microphone and turns your speech into text using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio isn't saved and isn't sent anywhere. You can pause a lesson at any time, and turning off Think Out Loud in Settings stops the app listening at all.

The resulting transcript is stored in your session, and is used to teach you, as described below.

Where your data goes

The tutor. The tutor needs your lesson content to teach you, including your goal, notes, curriculum, plans, scratchpad, answers, transcript and text read from your sources. Where that content goes depends on the provider you choose in Settings:

  • Apple Intelligence: the content is processed on your device using Apple's on-device model.
  • Custom Server: the content is sent to the server address you enter. That may be a server of your own or an AI provider you've chosen. We don't operate or choose it, so its own privacy policy and terms apply. Don't enter a server you don't trust with this content.

Web Search. If you add a Serper key and a course uses Web Search, the tutor's search queries are sent to Serper, along with your key, language and region. Queries are written by the tutor and can reflect what you're studying. Serper retrieves results from Google. Serper's privacy policy applies.

GitHub. If you add a GitHub source, the app requests that repository's files from GitHub, using your token if you've added one. GitHub's privacy policy applies.

Websites and images. If you add a website, or the tutor reads a page from a search, the app downloads that page directly from its site. Images in a lesson and in image searches are downloaded directly from the sites hosting them. Those sites receive a normal web request, including your IP address.

Files. Files and folders you pick are read on your device. Their text is then treated as lesson content, as described under The tutor.

We never sell your data. We don't receive any of it.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Sessions under 30 seconds aren't kept.

  • To delete a course and its sessions, touch and hold the course, then choose Delete.
  • To remove a key or token, go to Settings, then Sources.
  • To delete everything the app stores, delete the app. Keychain items can remain on the device after the app is deleted, so remove your keys in Settings first.
  • To remove data held by a service you've used, contact that service directly.

Because we hold none of your data, we can't access, change or delete it for you.

Children

Tenfold isn't directed at children under 13.
